Dear colleagues,

We cordially invite you to participate in the scientific meeting entitled “2nd ANNUAL MEETING ON DIGESTIVE CANCER: GASTRIC CANCER PROGRESS AND PROSPECTS 2019”, with International participation which is jointly organized by the Hellenic Society of Gastrointestinal Oncology and the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz, Germany, under the auspices of the Hellenic Society of Gastroenterology and the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology. The congress, which is labeled by the European Society of Digestive Oncology (ESDO) as a “Supported Meeting”, will take place in Athens, on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 September, 2019.

Gastric cancer is a significant malignant neoplasm of the digestive tract due to its worldwide dissemination and bad prognosis. It has been estimated that in 2019, one million gastric cancer patients will be diagnosed globally causing 750.000 deaths. Research in diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer is rapidly developing worldwide.

The aim of this International Meeting is to discuss the latest developments concerning tumor biology, diagnostic modalities, and the most efficacious treatment and care of diagnosed patients. The Organizing and Scientific Committees would like to emphasize that numerous well-known experts from Greece and abroad are participating in the program, thus making it a very promising and of high standards scientific meeting. Our ambition is to establish it as an annual meeting worthy of the greatest international digestive cancer congresses, being able to offer the participants the most current and essential knowledge regarding the diagnosis and treatment of digestive tumors.
